Welcome to my Website

I have a Diploma in Reflexology and I work in the Gloucester, Painswick and Stroud area and I have a second base in Churchdown near Cheltenham close to Leckhampton and Shurdington. So if you live in Gloucestershire and are feeling stressed and looking for a safe and relaxing way to unwind then do consider
reflexology.

What is reflexology?

Reflexology is a complementary therapy which is a non-invasive and treats the whole person. It is based on the concept that every organ and structure in the body is represented in miniature in the feet, and also in the hands. The reflexologist uses therapeutic touch to detect and treat sensitive reflexes.

Reflexology can bring about the same sensation of relaxation and restfulness that a full body massage can produce and so it is very helpful in the treatment of stress.

Reflexology needs no pills or potions to be effective. It is also generally not invasive of personal space as the therapist sits at the distance of the feet or hands. Although reflexology is done mainly on the feet it can also be done on the hands or a combination of both.

What happens in a reflexology treatment?

You should expect an hour's reflexology treatment in a relaxing environment in Upton St Leonards near Gloucester and Painswick, or Churchdown near Leckhampton and Cheltenham. You will need to remove your shoes and socks and sit in a semi reclined position on a couch or chair. No equipment is used, only the power of human touch. During the course of a reflexology treatment appropriate home care advice and self help techniques may be given.

Which reflexology qualifications does Anne hold?

Anne qualified as a reflexologist from the Bristol School of Holistic Therapies in 2005, undertaking an intensive professional course, which required over 72 hours of practical case studies on a minimum of 12 clients. She was awarded a Distinction for her Diploma in Reflexology by the International Examining Board
in London. Anne also holds a Distinction for her IEB Certificate in Anatomy and Physiology.

Since then Anne has undergone further training in Vertical Reflex Therapy (reflexology whilst standing-up) plus other courses related to reflexology.

Subsequent to this Anne spent two years working in America where she undertook training in Maternity Reflexology including pre-conceptual care, pregnancy, birthing, postnatal care and newborn baby care,
with many beneficial comments on the effects of the reflexology being reported by her case study clients,  gaining her Certificate of Competency from Suzanne Enzer for this work.

Anne is a full member of the Association of Reflexologists and attends the AOR local group meetings in Gloucestershire, meeting other reflexologists, and  exchanging information and treatments

Since returning from Utah Anne has continued developing her reflexology skills, networking with other complementary health professionals, and has taken numerous courses including
  • Helen Perkins “Intuition and Sound Reflexology” Helen  lived in Australia working with some of the Aboriginal people there when she was developing these techniques.
  • Houri Alavi (Traditiona Acupuncture practitioner)and Peta Trousdell (Reflexologist) “Reflexology for Fertility; Exploring the interface between reflexology and acupressure"
  • Christine Roscoe “VRT/Reflexology Masterclass on  Subfertility Issues”
  • Eileen Ford Price ”Thai Foot Massage Workshop”
  •  David Wayte “ Introduction to finger free reflexology”
  • Gunnel Berry "Adapted Reflex Therapy in Spinal Pain including Whiplash"
  • Donna Eden's "Energy Medicine Workshop"
  • Sally Kay's "Reflexology Lymph Drainage (RLD)"   see www.reflexologylymphdrainage.co.uk *
  • Eileen Ford-Price's "Thai face and neck massage"
Many of the techniques learned are incorporated into appropriate and relevant treatments Anne
undertakes.

* RLD is very useful for treating forms of lymphoedema. Sally has been researching its effectiveness with people who have had breast cancer and subsequent secondary lymphoedema. early findings have shown it to be very effective, further research is continuing to establish results with a much larger population.
